How it works

  1. Tell us what you needArea, budget, income, room preference, and anything a home needs to accept. It takes a few minutes and costs nothing.
  2. We review itA person on our team - not just an automated list - looks for independent providers in our Texas network who may fit.
  3. Matching providers get your referralThey see a summary first: your first name, last initial, area, budget, and needs - not your phone number or email.
  4. Interested providers contact youYour contact details are shared only as you authorized. The provider reaches out about availability, and we follow up on the outcome.

Texas accreditation, plainly

Recovery-house accreditation in Texas is voluntary (Health & Safety Code ch. 469). HHSC may approve only NARR or Oxford House as accreditors; TROHN certifies Texas homes using NARR standards, and Oxford House lists beds at oxfordvacancies.com. Since September 1, 2025, unaccredited recovery houses can't receive state money, and no home may claim accreditation it doesn't have. Not legal advice; Ready Rooms doesn't accredit or verify homes.

Ask before you move in

  • Is sobriety required, and how is it checked?
  • What happens after a relapse? Is rent refunded?
  • Are prescribed medications, including for opioid use disorder, allowed? (See Project HOMES.)
  • What are the rent, deposit, and fees - and what's included?
  • Are meetings, work, or a curfew required?
  • Can I see the house rules in writing?

A word of caution

Be cautious of anyone offering free rent, cash, or gifts in exchange for enrolling in a particular treatment program. If a home says it's accredited, check the accreditor's directory yourself. Paperwork to gather: documents for sober living.

How is sober living different from treatment?

Treatment and detox are clinical care in licensed facilities. Sober living is housing - a substance-free home with peer support.

Do sober living homes in Texas have to be accredited?

No. Accreditation is voluntary, but unaccredited homes can't receive state money and can't claim to be accredited.

Does Ready Rooms run sober living homes?

No. Ready Rooms connects people with independent providers. It doesn't operate, accredit, or supervise any home.

Referring someone in recovery? Treatment discharge planners, counselors, case managers

Include the area, budget, discharge or move-in date, and whether a sober living home is needed. You'll confirm you have the person's permission (or documented authority) to share their information with housing providers. Ready Rooms doesn't assess clinical needs.
