Can SSI or SSDI be used for housing?

Yes. Many providers in our network count SSI and SSDI as income for rent. Your rent needs to fit within the benefit amount. See how to talk with a housing provider about your income.

Do I need a Section 8 voucher?

No. Ready Rooms providers rent directly; a voucher isn't required. You can keep your place on any voucher waitlist.

Does it cost anything to use Ready Rooms?

No. You pay rent directly to the provider.

What SSI and SSDI pay in 2026
